Now every manufacturer of bulbs spends a lot of money researching new ways for us to save money because the market for green bulbs is a massive one.
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year.
With global warming and the price of energy skyrocketing, many people are looking for ways to save money and help the planet at the same time. If you want to reduce your carbon footprint and reduce the old power bill at the same time then compact fluorescent or lcd bulbs are a good way to begin.
CFL - Compact Fluorescent Lamp
CFL's are basically the same as the ordinary 4 foot tube thats used in any office except they are much smaller and fit in any "Edison" type socket. Prices of these bulbs are much cheaper now and range from 1 to 5 dollars per bulb.
LED - Light-emitting Diode
LED lights are the newest thing, currently much more expensive than the CFL lights but they use much less energy, if you have the budget and can find a decent deal on a LED bulb then I reccomend these instead. As technology improves, watch for the price of these bulbs to drop a great deal.
